The CJ Moneyway Show has built a large audience talking about the successes of others.
Corwin Johnson has been telling the “stories behind the success” on his podcast, The CJ Moneyway Show for almost two years. The man knows what he’s talking about, evidenced by the fact that his podcast has built a sizable audience and offers a steady revenue stream.
What’s your podcast about?
The main theme of The CJ Moneyway Show is “stories behind the success.” The podcast dives deep into the journeys of successful individuals, exploring the challenges, triumphs, and lessons they’ve learned along the way. Whether featuring financial experts, entertainers, authors, or entrepreneurs, the show focuses on uncovering the personal stories and strategies behind their achievements, offering valuable insights and inspiration to listeners.
How did your podcast begin?
I wanted to create a platform where I could share stories of success, financial wisdom, and personal growth in an accessible way. I’ve always been passionate about helping people improve their financial literacy, but I also wanted to highlight the inspiring journeys of individuals in the entertainment and creative industries. By blending these two elements, I saw the podcast as a powerful medium to not only educate but also motivate listeners to take control of their financial futures and pursue their paths to success.
What’s the biggest hurdle you face regularly and how do you overcome it?
Managing the time and effort it takes to produce high-quality content consistently. Balancing research, guest coordination, recording, editing, and promoting each episode can be quite demanding. To overcome this, I rely on careful planning and organization. I keep a detailed production schedule, batch-record episodes, and work with a dedicated team to handle some of the technical aspects like editing and promotion. This helps me stay on track while ensuring each episode meets the high standard I want for the show.
What’s the biggest reward you get from your podcast?
The biggest reward is hearing how the podcast positively impacts my listeners. Whether it’s someone gaining clarity on their finances, feeling inspired by a guest’s success story, or using the advice shared to take meaningful steps toward their own goals, knowing that the show is making a difference in people’s lives is incredibly fulfilling. Connecting with my audience and seeing the real-world results of the content we create is what makes all the effort worth it.
How has your podcast generated revenue?
We’ve had great success monetizing the podcast through a variety of strategies that leverage both programmatic ads and direct audience engagement. When I was on RedCircle, programmatic ads played a key role in generating income. With my current partnership with the Bleav Network, programmatic ads continue to be a strong revenue source, providing access to high-profile advertisers like Warby Parker and several others.
Additionally, I actively pitch sponsorship opportunities on my own, which allows for more customized partnerships. Promoting my personal products—such as books, coaching programs, clothing lines—and even collaborating on affiliate programs with podcast guests when the opportunity arises has also been an effective way to diversify income.
Networking is another key element. Building relationships with guests and other podcasters has opened doors to revenue-sharing partnerships and sponsorships I might not have found otherwise.
Monetization in podcasting requires creativity and persistence, but these strategies have helped me build a sustainable and growing revenue stream for The CJ Moneyway Show!
Are there any other insights about your podcasting career you’d like to share?
One insight is how much I’ve grown personally through the process. Hosting The CJ Moneyway Show has taught me the importance of adaptability and continuous learning. I’ve had the privilege of speaking with a wide range of guests from various industries, each offering unique perspectives, which has expanded my understanding of both finance and the creative world. It’s also been a lesson in resilience—there are always challenges, but staying committed to delivering value to my audience keeps me motivated. Podcasting is a rewarding experience, but it’s a craft that requires dedication, curiosity, and constant growth.
What do you wish you knew more about?
The technical side of podcast production, especially in terms of advanced audio editing and sound design. While I have a great team that helps with these aspects, having a deeper understanding of the technical elements would allow me to be more hands-on in shaping the audio experience for listeners. I’m also interested in learning more about effective marketing strategies in the podcasting space, especially when it comes to expanding reach and audience engagement.
I also wish I knew more about securing and managing sponsorships for the podcast. While I’ve gained some insight into the process, I’d love to deepen my understanding of how to attract the right sponsors that align with my brand and audience, and how to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
What was the hinge moment (one person, one moment, or event) that made the difference in your life?
When I was asked to bring The CJ Moneyway Show to the Bleav Network. It was a turning point that validated the work I had been doing and opened up new opportunities for the podcast to grow and reach a wider audience. Another significant moment was discovering that my show ranks in the top 3% of podcasts globally on Listen Notes; out of over 3 million podcasts. That realization was both humbling and incredibly motivating, as it showed that the content I’m passionate about is resonating with people around the world. Both of these moments have been pivotal in shaping the direction and future of the show.
Another major “hinge moment” in my life has been the unwavering support of my mother, who has been there from the very beginning of this journey. She’s seen where I started to what I’ve accomplished so far. Her belief in me and my vision has been a constant source of strength and motivation. Her support has been a cornerstone of my success.
